Time Line Technique is a visual trauma resolution technique that enables us to identify negative experiences from your past and resolve them from the root cause. It’s a way of connecting with your past self so you can process traumatic events and remove the negative impact have on your life from now into the future.
How does Time Line Technique Work?
When we create a time line of your life, you’re connecting with your past self so you can process traumatic events. You’re looking at your life from start to finish so you can see what has happened. This shows you the negative experiences in your life that have an emotional impact. By accessing these events as a person who you are today, with all your current experiences, you can bring all the necessary resources into each experience where you needed them most, thus reframe them, process them and remove the emotional impact they’ve had on your life. By doing so, you can empower your past self in the experience itself and thus create a new, more powerful and confident version of yourself.
What are the steps of Time Line Technique?
There are four steps of Time Line technique to overcome your past.
1. Visualise your past
The first step of Time Line Technique is to visualise your past. When you do this, you’re able to see parts of your past. You’re able to see your life from start to finish and see what has happened. This will show you what has upset you and what has been blocking your growth up until now.
2. Identify your negative experiences
The second step of Time Line Technique is to identify your negative experiences. When we mark these events on your time line, you’re able to process them and remove their emotional impact. You’ll be able to let them go once and for all.
3. Connect with your past self
The third step of Time Line Technique is to connect with your past self. This is the part of yourself that was affected by the negative experiences you’ve had in your life. When you do this, you’re able to process these events at the root cause.
4. Create new resources
The final step of Time Line Technique is to create new positive experiences, to create a new version of your past, and therefore a new version of yourself. These will help you to create new resources and bring them through your life into the present and into the future.
